Personal faith

We’ve seen so many lives changed as the result of people developing a personal relationship with Jesus. They’ve asked Him to be number one in their lives, receiving His offer of a brand new start, with the past forgiven and the future secure.

You too can begin that journey and below is why we think it’s the best decision you could ever make and how you can make it…

God wants a relationship with you

That was always the plan! Having created the world, God then made people so that He could have a relationship with them. To think that the creator of this world wanted to have a relationship with people like you and us, is quite something! You were made to know God!

Sin’s a spoiler

Hand on heart, we all do things wrong, and that stuff is simply what we call ‘sin.’ Sin is really wanting to go our own way instead of God’s, meaning we end up turning away from Him or even ignoring Him.

The worst thing is our ‘sin’ separates us from God. It drives a wedge between us and God. How can a holy, perfect God have a relationship with an unholy, imperfect people? He can’t! The Bible says “everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23).

If things don’t change we find ourselves facing being separated from God forever, in this life and in the one to come.  Most people would say they want to go to heaven yet we can’t unless something changes! Separation from God is penalty of sin

We have a problem

We often try and fill our lives with other things but the truth is, nothing else – friends, money, work or leisure can satisfy our deepest longings and needs, and we can’t bridge the gap between us and God by any amount of good deeds or even religious activity.

There is no other way. All our best efforts fail because they don’t deal with the problem of sin. If sin is the one thing separating us from God, it needs removing and there’s only One person who can do that!

Jesus solves the problem

Jesus came to remove the problem by paying the penalty for our sins, so we don’t have to. He took our place. 1 Peter 3:18 says “For Christ died for sins once for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God.”

At the cross, Jesus won the victory over sin and death. He rose from the dead and broke it’s power. Now if anyone puts their faith and trust in Him they can find forgiveness for their sins. They can have a relationship with God, and the guarantee of a future in heaven with Him! Why did He do it?

God loves you

That’s the reason Jesus did what He did. To show you how much God loves you and wants a relationship with you!

John 3:16 says “For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die, but have eternal life.

God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8)

God longs for a personal relationship with you. He always has done and He always will. Sin messed that up, but through Jesus and His death on the cross it is possible again. It’s the offer of a life of fullness, purpose and adventure from a God who truly loves you!

Ask Jesus into your heart

You just need to open up your heart and life, to receive Christ into it. He promises to come in if you ask Him.

Receiving Jesus involves 3 things; Acknowledging. Trusting. Choosing.

If you want to, you can do that by praying a simple prayer to Jesus. You could say something like this;

“Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. I’m sorry for going my own way instead of your way, please forgive me. Thank you for dying to take away my sin. I want to put my trust in you. Please come into my life and make me the person you want me to be. I choose to follow you. Amen.”
